PGE has reported multiple outages - call the PGE hotline at 503-228-6322 and be sure and know your exact official address or your PGE account number when you call.

USE Forums to start a thread describing specific road issues you may find on your road - this can be a very useful tool

MAR 24, 2023

More snow falling and 2-6 inches as of 10am.  More in forecast.

David Jacob

MAR 20, 2023

The nice weather the past week has not melted the snow.  But most roads not plowed are 2 tracked so 4WD with snow tires is possible or 2WD with chains is also possible.

Low clearance cars might want to wait a bit longer.

Expect rain snow mix this week so still highly variable.

JAN 5, 2023

No snow on cabin roads - light snow on side of roads but nothing that would make driving difficult.  High winds in the area continue to cause limb debris.  Some trees down.  MHFHA was notified of tree down on Rd 31 and we chainsawed it away.  We also have had a few cabin owners report in trees on cabins and those cabin owners have all been notified.

DEC 29, 2022

High winds in the area has caused several trees to fall - a few on cabins.  If you see trees on cabins please notify MHFHA at info@mhfha.com so that we can notify the owners.  Power was out for several days and PGE is working hard to restore.  Many have been restored by 12-29-22.

Light snow on upper roads - no major road/snow issues as of today.

Dec 26, 2022

most roads are passible to 4wd rigs with snow tires
there is some snow on the roads with more snow in the higher elevations
I am able to get everywhere with an Xterra with good studded snow tires
roads 28, 30, 32, and 34 are plowed per contract

This is gravel - layering large and small rock, covered with gravel using backhoe and heavy roller.  This is not a permanent fix but will hopefully tide over under more definitive work can be done once fee
retention goes into place in 2025/2026.

The association has some money to put towards this project but we also need cabin owner donations.  Please click on one of the following links to donate today!

Road 35A/35B Road Repair Fund

Thank you for your donations!

Update Road 20 Road Repairs as of July 2, 2020

Road 20
road 20
17 pot hole repairs on Road 20 have been completed

Repavement of section off of Hwy 26 prior to the Road 20 Zigzag bridge (1st photo on the left) has been completed

Repavement of section after the Road 20 Zigzag bridge is scheduled to be completed on July 6, 2020

The repaving of these two small sections cost $5900
17 Pot Hole Repairs on Road 20 cost  $3600
Signage and incidental costs    $128

Total project cost $9628

There are 18 privately owned homes on Holden and E. Marion that use this entrance to travel to their home.  Seven (7) of these full time homeowners have contributed $4100 of the $5900 cost (they don't travel on road 20 past Holden and E. Marion)

There are 87 cabins that use this road to travel to their cabins.  To date only 42 cabin owners or 48% have contributed $4900 out of the total cost of $9628.

The work is not complete.  There is still need for gravel along Road 20 which is very muddy in some areas.  If gravel isn't put down, there will be water which will erode the repairs.  This additional gravel will cost in addition to the above costs.

Road repair under way on Rd 20.  There will be two sections of asphalt which will be repaved.  The first section is right as you turn onto Rd 20 from Hwy 26.  The 2nd section is just past the Bridge.  There are 17 pot holes that have been repaired on Rd 20 up to Rd 20D.  The cost is in the several thousands of dollars - much of which has been paid for by the residents on E. Marian Rd.  There is still work to be done and we need every cabin owner that uses Rd 20 to access their cabin to contribute.  Please donate today by CC use this link: Rd 20 Road Repair or if you would rather send a check please send to:  MHFHA, PO Box 851, Lake Oswego, OR  97034.

Many of the cabin roads are in very bad shape and donations will be asked from cabin owners to use on their roads.  MHFHA will match funds up to a certain limit that is being determined now.

The maintenance of Roads are the cabin owners responsibility as explained in each of our special use permits.

PLEASE DONATE TODAY!

All snow has melted but more is in the forecast!

Jan 24, 2020

The rain has melted a jority of the snow on the roads.  Lower roads have no snow.  Upper Roads have some snow.  Driving into your driveway may require shovel if you don't have 4WD on Rd 35A and 35.  The picture on the right is Rd 35

4 wheel drive (not all wheel drive) with snow tires or chains on any road not plowed

6 inches in the lower elevations 12 inches in the upper
Got a bit of snow in the past 2 days
most roads require 4 wd with snow tires with higher elevations needing chains
rd 28, 30 32, 34 are plowed so either 4wd or snow tires will work

A few power outages but not as many as in past years
all the tree trimming this summer is paying off.

It is getting cold, so if your water is going to freeze unless your plumbing is drained or heated.

Jan 10, 2020   A couple of inches of snow have fallen and all roads are CONDITION B  and snow tires and/or 4 wheel drive recommended.  Heavy snow fall is in forecast for the coming week.

Jan 2, 2020  No snow but heavy winds.  Downed tree on Rd 30.   PGE crews have been notified and are on their way - we do not know the extent of power outages

December 26, 2019   No snow yet but forecast states we may get some accululation over the weekend.  We will post any significant amounts of snow here each Thursday.
When it snows we will post road condition reports each Thursday here for all cabin roads.   We will also have an active BLOG for cabin owners to share their road conditions, trees down, power issues etc.

We also recognize that the condition of our roads during the other seasons poses challenges.  Pot holes in both gravel roads and paved roads are a continuous problem due to the conditions.  We are working with local USFS personnel to find temporary solutions.

We use the following grades to identify condition
:

Grades

A= clear

B= 1 - 4 inches need snow tires

C= 3-6 inches need 4wd or chained 2 wd

D= need high ground clearance and 4wd (no AWD minivans, un-lifted Subaru's)

E= need chains on every tire and 4wd with high ground clearance
F= Don't even think about driving!
