Mt. Hood National Forest Recreation Events Open Season Set to Begin on September 1

Zigzag OR – August 15, 2019

The Mt. Hood National Forest is seeking new opportunities for organized recreation events to connect people with their public lands and outdoor recreation in creative ways.

We will be accepting proposals for new recreation events to add to the existing events already occurring throughout the year. Ten permits will be available, and if there are more applicants than permits available, a lottery system will be used. Proposals for events in 2020 will be accepted between September 1 and November 1,  2019. All new proposals will be reviewed under a specific criteria intended to diversify recreation opportunities, reduce overlap with existing events, and increase opportunities for youth-focused events.

Detailed information and applications are available on the Mt. Hood National Forest website Recreation Events Page.  If you have questions about the criteria or the permitting process please call Emily Curtis at 503-630-8703. Interested groups are encouraged to contact the forest before developing new proposals.
